Yes, the Mavericks actually beat a 68-point team
Did you watch the Mavs preseason game last night? It’s okay if you haven’t; it’s the preseason.
But Dallas treated the third of their four prelims – the last being tomorrow night – like a sort of dress rehearsal, showcasing their starting XI and throwing a ton of 3s (which they had been reluctant to do so far. ) and generally giving a pretty good shit what was going on.
Turns out, when this happens, the Mavericks can look deadly. So deadly that they crushed the Charlotte Hornets 127-59. You read correctly. The Mavericks have really doubled the score of their opponents (and more). They really won with a larger point margin than Charlotte’s. They truly won the most lopsided preseason game between NBA teams since 1995, by the Elias Sports Office. The only preseason game with a bigger margin of victory came two years ago, when the Houston Rockets obliterated the Shanghai Sharks by 69.
Look, it’s preseason. None of the Dallas starters played more than 26 minutes; the Hornets, on the other hand, barely trotted most of theirs. There are few valuable things to tap into this time of year that really matter. The final grades don’t convey much. Check back tomorrow on StrongSide, and Iztok Franko, our guy in Slovenia, will tell you what really matters.
For today, however, enjoy a truly hilarious pre-season moment before the heavy stuff begins.
