Purdue earns Best Value spot in Wall Street Journal ranking

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University recently ranked seventh in the Best Value ranking for the sixth consecutive year in the Top 10 Best Schools, according to the Wall Street Journal.

In addition to ranking seventh for best value for money, Purdue also ranked 10th among public institutions and 48th out of 800 schools, according to a statement from Purdue. Purdue is also ranked fourth in commitment, tied with seven other schools, including the University of Notre Dame.

The news follows the previous announcement this month that Purdue has been ranked among the top 10 most innovative schools in the country for the fourth year in a row.

The Wall Street Journal / Time Higher Education ranking focuses on four qualifications: 40% of the overall grade is based on student achievement, 30% on resources, 20% on engagement with students, and 10% on l learning environment, according to the statement. by Purdue.

Other recent Purdue accomplishments include Forbes’ analysis of “the universities with the most graduates working at the top Fortune 500 companies.” On that list, Purdue ranks 19th – with 2,195 graduate boilermakers confirmed to work for Fortune 500 companies – as well as Purdue’s record freshman number for the fall semester of 2021.

“This is how the study was carried out,” said Michael T Nietzel in his Forbes article, “the authors examined more than 150,000 LinkedIn profiles of current employees in various leadership roles in the top 20 Fortune 500 companies ( in 2021) to identify their educational background. They then compiled the universities attended and the degrees obtained by these people. “

Other efforts to help Purdue graduates find the best value for their education, especially after graduation, come from Purdue’s largest outdoor college career fair held annually. During these exhibitions, “up to 400 companies and 12,000 students at the Industrial Round Table”. according to the press release.

“In 2020, the average starting salary for immediate graduates of Purdue was $ 62,395,” as the release said. “That’s over 11% better than the average US starting salary of $ 55,260 for recent graduates.”
