Popular Disney Resort gets a makeover

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World Resort is popular with guests for a number of reasons.

This is the most ‘Disney-themed’ resort in Disney World, with characters from a number of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films – like The Lion King (1994), The little Mermaid (1989), Cars (2006), and The world of Nemo (2003) – featured throughout the property.

Now one area of Disney’s animation art is going through a pretty big transformation. The Lion King Resort hotel area has had much of its landscaping and there are cranes on site for construction.
As you can see below, many trees and plants have been cleared for the ongoing project.

At this time, Disney has not officially announced when the cleared area will be restored.

Additionally, guests entering the building under construction must use a temporary walkway to reach their hotel rooms.

Again, a construction end date at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has not been announced, so if you are planning on staying at this hotel soon, maybe for the Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration! – be prepared (as Scar would say) for The Lion King section to be different from the one you are used to.
