Papa Roach releases his 11th studio album “EGO TRIP”
After two years of work and nearly 10 months of excitement with fans, Papa Roach today celebrates the release of his eleventh studio album EGO TRIP.
An album that sprouted almost by mistake in the throes of a global lockdown, its seeds were planted when the quartet entered a COVID-secured mansion in Temecula, California in the summer of 2020. What started as an escape and an exercise in keeping the creative juices flowing, in a world that had come to a complete stop, quickly transformed into something bigger. Determined, defiant and just the right side of the line between confident and arrogant (“I really hope [the album title] stop a few people in their tracks,” frontman Jacoby Shaddix sneers), EGO TRIP is Papa Roach – complete with guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance and drummer Tony Palermo – at its boldest and brightest.
“Throughout my life, I’ve embarked on this constant journey to untangle this…thing,” Jacoby begins of the inspiration behind EGO TRIP. “This eternal paradigm; this struggle between light and dark. I see it alive in the world and it’s something I’m constantly trying to balance with my own life. Who is driving my ego? Is it the high frequency version of myself, the one that is more spiritual and self-aware, or is it the low frequency version that can be egotistical, self-centered, and egotistical? Throughout the process of creating this record, we’ve had some really deep conversations about life, who drives our egos, and what drives and motivates us.
Papa Roach has just wrapped up his first headlining tour in three years with the first leg of his “Kill The Noise” North American tour featuring very special guests Hollywood Undead and Bad Wolves. The band will be back on the road for a series of dates with Highly Suspect next month and will make a handful of festival appearances across the United States.
