Milton Keynes teacher writes compelling storybook to help kids cope with anxiety

A local special needs teacher and author has published a heartwarming storybook designed to help children understand their anxiety.
Sarah Atherton titled the book Bella’s Butterflies, and it tells the story of a little girl who worries about school.
The cover of the book reads, “Bella doesn’t want to go to school. She doesn’t want to take her math test and her stomach is weird. Bella’s teacher says she has butterflies in her stomach. Like this. is strange! true? And how is she going to get them out? Find out in this heartwarming story about childhood anxiety. “
Published by Sage’s Tower Publishing and illustrated by Chrish Vindhy, the book was released this week and can be purchased for £ 7.99 on Amazon. here.
Sarah is the Special Education Needs Coordinator at Bishop Parker Catholic School and St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Elementary School, both located in Bletchley.
She wrote the book while undergoing grueling chemotherapy for breast cancer, from which she is now thankfully in remission.
She lives in Bletchley with her husband, two grown children and a very spoiled cat and enjoys taking long walks, playing badminton, watching ice hockey and drinking coffee.
