Little Wonders: Insect Art Exhibit at the Chelsea District Library

Local artist featured with the library art exhibit!
When the national tour Little Wonders: Insects in brief The exhibition opens September 7 at the Chelsea District Library (CDL), the public will also be invited to view works by local CDL artist in residence, Frank Cianciolo. A native of Michigan, Cianciolo is an avid nature photographer, owner of the historic Clinton Theater, illustrator and musician of Frank Allison and the Odd Sox. Frank’s photography, artwork and animation capture the intricate details of insects of all shapes and sizes and perfectly complement the Little wonders exposure.
Reflecting on his attraction to nature photography, he says: “As a child, I heard of a place called the wilderness, a wild place far away. Throughout my life, I have given my mind, time and money to save this beautiful, faraway place. While photographing insects, I discovered that the majestic wilderness we must save is right outside our windows. “
Engage and embrace the beauty of the natural world with Cianciolo in September and October. Kids will enjoy a musical hike on the StoryBook Trail where they will learn expert insect hunting tips. Adults can dive into macro photography at a special event on the Border-to Border Trail in Lyndon Township, and all are invited to join Cianciolo for music, stories and more at the historic Chelsea Depot for an evening with the artist. Learn more about Cianciolo, see examples of his work, and sign up for the programs by visiting art.chelseadistrictlibrary.org.
