Lancers prepare with special care ahead of game against No. 5 Oakdale | WDVM25 and DCW50

NEW MARKET, Md. (WDVM) – In their last meeting against the Oakdale Bears, both teams totaled over 100 points as Linganore won 54-53 in overtime.
This Friday, the two teams will face off at much higher stakes, as the No.1 seed of the Linganore Lancers welcomes the No.5 seed Oakdale Bears.
This is Linganore’s first taste of playoff action for the season, as they took a week off as a seed in Region 3A West.
“I am certainly preparing more than last time.” senior Cole Stansbury said. “Lots of things that might have surprised us – with our great coaching staff we looked at and found the best plan to stop them this Friday.”
“It feels like it should be like the end of a storybook, for whoever wins.”
Players on the team have said improving Oakdale’s fitness is something they are focused on. In their last meeting, the Lancers rushed for over 300 yards, but expect that number to drop somewhat due to the two teams and their familiarity with each other.
“I think we’ve just grown as a team.” said senior Nate Engel, “We focused on our mistakes this game, and we really built on them.”
Linganore will have the added benefit of having their home crowd to support them this Friday, much to the excitement of the players.
“I mean it’s a dream come true, these fans that we have are amazing. They always come to support so I’m really excited.
