Jarod Allen Walker, 24, graduated from Lafayette High School
WILLIAMSBURG – Jarod Allen Walker, 24, passed away suddenly on May 14, 2021. He was born on January 22, 1997 in Newport News.
Jarod graduated in 2016 from Lafayette High School in Williamsburg.
He is survived by his mother, Kristy Walker; father, Todd Walker (Sara); sister, Laura Walker; grandparents, John and Jenny Ochranek and Sheryl Kaufman; great-grandmother, Joan Ochranek; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jarod had a love for music and started playing in the school orchestra in 5th grade. By the time he graduated from high school, he could play all the brass in the band, as well as acoustic, bass, and electric guitars. He has performed in the marching band, jazz band and honors band. Jarod had a passion for knowledge and was an avid reader from a young age, reading everything from fiction to non-fiction, including biographies and, yes, even encyclopedias.
Jarod’s heart was huge and compassionate. He loved making people laugh with his great but dry sense of humor. His smile was huge and contagious, he gave the best hugs in the world. He had a weakness for animals and loved his two dogs very much.
Jarod also really enjoyed being outside. One of her favorite things to do was go fishing with her friends. When being outdoors was not an option, Jarod enjoyed playing video games and listening to music. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Jarod was the brightest light. May he now fly on wings like eagles.
Visitations will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, May 21, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg.
Here are some of Jarod’s favorite musical lyrics:
