Jamie and Rebekah Vardy unveil their first children’s storybook
Jamie and Rebekah Vardy have signed a deal to launch their first line of illustrated children’s story books, with the first title going on sale on World Book Day 2022.
“It has been a pleasure working on this new title and format with Jamie and Rebekah Vardy, and our editorial team,” said Matthew Reynolds, Managing Director of Little Brother Books. “With our experience of current trends for children and the important message that the BUG team is sharing with children and parents; we are certain that this first book will be loved by children but trustworthy and respected by parents. We can’t wait to see it in libraries from February 2022. ”
Negotiated by London Entertainment in partnership with UK children’s book and yearbook publisher Little Brother Books (LBB), the deal sees the family-focused couple embark on their first storybook together. An equally new venture for LBB, this is the first time the company has created a storybook and with a celebrity couple.
Rich in illustrated images, the range of Vardy storybooks is aimed at children from 3 years old. Their first release is called “Cedric the little sloth with a big dream”. The Be Yourself Guardians (BUG) are the central characters in each book, with each title having a different storyline and endless BUG support.
“Working together on this book has been a dream for us,” Jamie and Rebekah Vardy said in a joint statement. “We are not writers, but we are experienced parents, and we know what messages we want to give to our children the most; it’s not about being the best or winning at everything, it’s about doing your best, being happy and chasing your dreams. We kept going through the list of topics we were passionate about, and we kept coming back to the same one – just be yourself. We want children and their parents or guardians to realize that with the right words of encouragement and positive thoughts, they can achieve anything they want. It also means to be who and what you want to be. Our dream is for the Be Yourself Guardians (BUG) to become identifiable characters who build children’s confidence, ease their anxieties and help them believe in themselves through these storybooks. LBB put us in touch with an exceptional writer and illustrator to guide us through this process. We’ve been showing our kids the drafts and sketches throughout, so it’s been a real family affair and we hope the readers love the first book as much as our family.
