Group of library friends organizing a 3-day book sale | Local News
Friends of the Hardin County Public Library are holding its biggest book sale yet, organizers say.
The three-day sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Library, 100 Jim Owen Drive in Elizabethtown.
“We have more books and materials for this sale than we’ve ever had before,” Nancy Shores of the Friends of the Hardin County Public Library said in an email.
Shores said the event will offer great deals on a variety of books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs. She noted on Saturday that they would sell books for $ 1 a bag.
“Saturday is a fun day,” she said.
The money raised from the sale of books pays for a multitude of projects requested by the library, Shores said. Usually the money is used for items or activities not budgeted for for various departments in the library.
Shores said the sale was also a good opportunity for people to learn more about Friends at the Hardin County Public Library. She said membership forms are available for sale.
Shores said the membership fees are affordable and are a way to support their organization, which in turn supports and advocates for the library.
If people have books or other media they would like to donate, Shores said the library can start receiving donations in July. They don’t take magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks or VHS tapes.
