Concordia Lutheran Magazine: FALL WRAP
Football, volleyball and cross-country athletes have been the headliners of the award-winning fall 2020 season, full of highlights and highlights.
SOCCER
Concordia Lutheran went 2-5 overall in the fall, qualifying for the playoffs, but fell to John Paul II in the 51-17 opener
The Crusaders were led by All-State full-back Beau Domann, who was a second teammate. Jake Thériault received an Honorable Mention from All States as an offensive lineman.
Defensively, Samuel Ahmuty was a second team defensive lineman and Owen Segura earned an honorable mention as a defensive lineman.
On teams in all districts, the CLHS defense was the calling card. Andrew Shrewsbury and Gavin Baxter got second-team nods to linebacker, while Tate Elder was a second-team, District-wide defensive back.

Of that group, only Shrewsbury and Elder are expected to return for the 2021 season.

VOLLEYBALL
It was another outstanding year for Concordia’s Lutheran volleyball program, going 22-4 and reaching the TAPPS State semi-finals. The ‘Saders fell to district rival St. Agnes in four games.
Coach Kim Odinga says goodbye to Brooke Frazier, who has left a lasting legacy on the program. The All-State First Team Defender travels to the SEC where she plays for Texas A&M. Frazier has been selected four times as a first team in all districts and an All-American Prep Volleyball.

Away striker Sophie Keene has also joined Frazier in the first team as Baylor’s entry lead the charge in her 2021 senior season.
Sydney Whitfield was an All-State second-team selection and could have a defining year for the Crusaders in 2021. Ryann Ely earned an honorable mention for his play as a senior.

CROSS COUNTRY
Girls Cross Country makes school history; The boys finished eighth
Lauryn Kastenschmidt and Ava Zindler led the way. Kastenschmidt finished fourth overall. Megan Groeschel, Shelby Hadrick and Jessica McGavern have also played a big role in the success of the teams.
The top five Concordia Lutheran riders all placed in the Top 30. Two were in the Top 10 and Kastenschmidt was fourth.
