On Thursday, August 18, the Aboitiz Group received several honors at the Philippine Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious corporate communications awards program.
The distinctions given by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines were: the award for excellence in the publication category for Aboitiz 100th Anniversary Book: 100 Years of Business and Community Development; the award of excellence in the internal communication category for “InfraKamustahan: The AIC Virtual Townhall”; and an award of excellence in the digital communications category for the “#OneAboitizSustainability microsite”.
The 19th Annual Philippine Quill Awards was themed “Move: Stronger Together,” highlighting the power of communicators to shape the future and lead people to positive change. Such a theme resonated deeply with Groupe Aboitiz and its raison d’être. This year in particular, these recognitions reaffirm what the Aboitiz group has been conscientiously working towards for a century, and what it is committed to achieving for another century.

The 100 years of Aboitiz book
The Book of 100 years of Aboitiz is the official commemorative publication of Groupe Aboitiz relating the past century of Aboitiz. The release process involved fact-checking thousands of historical records, collecting memories, and working with valued shareholders. All this amid the communication difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. It was a work of resilience and loyalty on the part of the people within and around the Aboitiz group.
Ultimately, the story captured in the book serves as inspiration for Aboitiz’s next chapter. As the company goes through its “great transformation”, the lessons of the last century will be applied with a renewed entrepreneurial spirit to bring Aboitiz to the forefront of innovation as the first “Techglomerate” in the Philippines.

“InfraKamustahan: The AIC Virtual Townhall” was launched by Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) in 2020, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. AIC is the infrastructure branch of the Aboitiz group.
What began as monthly discussions of organizational matters quickly took on new meaning as the AIC leadership team and committee quickly realized the potential to broaden the scope of the town hall meeting for s take care of the well-being of team members. As the world learned to adjust to the new normal, the InfraKamustahan brought together team members across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, providing a much-needed sense of community during these difficult times.
It quickly became an anticipated event and a key program for employee engagement. Alongside the games and lively panels, there were honest discussions of workplace issues, with the majority of the time devoted to questions and answers so team members could give candid feedback.
The infrastructure industry is one that fully understands the importance of a solid foundation. Thanks to the InfraKamustahan, each member of the team felt that their voice mattered. This ensured that even when separated by circumstances, each member of the team remained cheerful and engaged, the true foundation of a successful team.
